UAL Flight Diverted Over Suspicious Vials

Turned Out To Be Herbal Medicine

A United Airlines flight from New York to San Francisco was diverted to Chicago Tuesday, after one passenger reported seeing another handling vials deemed suspicious. The vials turned out to be harmless, according to police.

The Chicago Police Department Bomb Squad responded as UAL Flight 27 landed at O'Hare International Airport.

All 74 passengers on board the aircraft were evacuated. The vials were examined and turned out to be... nothing harmful.

"The suspicious material turned out to be a passenger with a couple of vials with an herbal liquid. They spoke to the passenger. There are no arrests," police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak told Reuters.
