Ag Plane Makes Emergency Landing On ND Interstate

Pilot Walked Away After Experiencing Engine Failure

The pilot of a Thrush Ayres S2R ag plane was uninjured after suffering an engine failure Friday and landing the airplane on Interstate 94 near Sterling, ND.

Television station WDAY/WDAZ reports that the pilot, identified as 27-year-old Adam Taylor of Bismarck, was flying the plane from Hillsboro to Mandan when the engine failed. He told a witness that he thought the engine had "blown up" before making the emergency landing.

A tow truck driver on the interstate reportedly saw the airplane on the highway, stopped the truck in the right lane, and turned on his flashing lights.

After getting into the tow truck to warm up and charge his phone, Taylor pushed the plane off the highway to clear the traffic lane.

The driver, identified as Mike Berland, said Taylor was "cool as a cucumber" about the entire incident.
