In-Theater Report From The USS Kitty Hawk

Among ANN's many friends and contributors, we're happy to count Richard Miller, of Talk Radio News, currently aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63).

His Thursday report notes that "The USS Cowpens [CG 63 -- numerologists, take note --ed] was one among 4 other destroyers and 2 submarines launching the 40+ tomahawk cruise missiles this morning.

The Cowpens launched 10 of the missiles at 2 military targets in and around Baghdad. The Cowpens received word to launch only 30 minutes ahead of time."

Miller thinks that, "This was part of the action to "take out Saddam/military brass/Who-knows-it-hasn't-been-disclosed-yet." Miller says that, "That this was a deviation from the "war plan" is clear from the 30 minutes received by the Cowpens. It is safe to assume that the Cowpens' other targets of the larger war plan have been in their possession and as a part of their targeting models for days if not weeks.

Analysis: Shows that the war planners are going to run this thing in an 'entrepreneurial' style---the plan will shift as opportunity and intelligence information dictates."

What's This Mean?

Miller says the that current strategy "...has Rummy [Rumsfeld] written all over it... Flexibility, turn on a dime, that-was-then-this-is-now-type thinking. Thrust; parry; thrust -- a sword fight, not a pre-scripted play. Be ready for lots of surprises."
