Urgent CASA AD: Bell Helicopter

Applicability: Agusta-Bell Model 412 EP helicopters equipped with external rescue hoists with the following part numbers (P/N):
412-8800-01-202 (Breeze-Eastern BL-20200-402)
412-8800-01-412 (Breeze-Eastern BL-20200-412)

Requirement: If not previously accomplished, carry out an inspection of the hoist cable cut electrical circuit and install a cable cut pyrotechnic cartridge. Both actions are to accomplished in accordance with Agusta Bollettino Tecnico 412-112 dated 7 November 2005.

Note: ENAC (Italy) AD 2005-484 (EASA Approval 2005-6412) refers.

Compliance: Before further external hoist operation, but no later than 31 December 2005. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 21 December 2005.

Background: Agusta has received reports of inadvertent firing hoist cable cartridges. This Directive requires a one time inspection of the hoist cable cut electrical circuit for correct operation and allows the reinstallation of the cable cut pyrotechnic cartridge.
