Breaking News: First Flight: SJ-30, S/N 3

On 'a beautiful day in the neighborhood,' Sino Swearingen's newest jet, Serial Number 3, took off at about 9AM local time Thursday, for a quick sortie.

Chuck Walls, former USAF test pilot, was in the left seat, accompanied by the first-flight guy from other SJ-30 flights, Carroll Beeler, another former military test pilot. "Everything went great," according to our ANN News-Spy.

The flight was short -- less than an hour -- but Walls was able to test throttle response, throttling back each engine; he tried some steep banks in both directions, ran through a number of systems (handling, stability, control, power back of each engine, turns banks, and takeoff/landing procedures), and returned to a cheering crowd of very proud workers. We'll have more on this exciting development program, as we get official words on it...
