Will Serve As Senior Advisor To The Association
American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) President and CEO Todd Hauptli on Oct. 23, announced the appointment of the Honorable Peter Neffenger, former Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), as Senior Advisor, effective November 1. Neffenger will focus his efforts on driving innovative solutions and technological advances in the airport industry, working with AAAE’s Airport Innovation Accelerator, as well as providing strategic advice to the AAAE team and its membership.
“Peter Neffenger is a thoughtful, highly effective leader who has successfully driven innovation and organizational transformation throughout his career. He is widely respected, and we are thrilled that he will help us move aviation forward at such a pivotal inflection point in our industry,” Hauptli noted. He continued, “Peter has a first-rate mind and throughout his career in government demonstrated a unique ability to get things done. It is going to be a lot of fun watching him apply those capabilities on behalf of AAAE and the airport community.”
“While TSA Administrator, I greatly enjoyed working with the aviation community and appreciate the challenges of such a dynamic operating environment. I’m excited to work with AAAE and its members and partners throughout the industry to affect meaningful change and technological advancement,” Neffenger said.
Prior to becoming TSA Administrator in 2015, Neffenger was the 29th Vice Commandant of the United States Coast Guard. Commissioned in 1982, Neffenger has an MPA from Harvard University, an MA in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College, a separate MA in business management from Central Michigan University and a BA from Baldwin Wallace University.
