Norway Holds Ukrainian Pilots On Drunk Flying Charges

Four Will Not Be Allowed To Leave Until Trial

Norwegian officials have detained three Ukranian pilots on charges of attempting to fly a plane while drunk... and Norway's not messing around.

Police officials in Helsinki tell Russia's RIA Novosti news agency the four will spend the four weeks until their trial in jail, because they're considered risks to flee the country.

The AN-22 transport plane was carrying US-made oil equipment for delivery in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Police originally detained seven crewmembers for preparing to fly in an intoxicated state. Four were released, but the captain and two others were held.

Authorities report the investigation should be completed in a month... but if found guilty, the three pilots could spend several more months in jail.
