CAE Inaugurates New Training Center In Barcelona, Spain

New Facility Has The Capacity To Initially Train More Than 600 Airline Pilots And 1,000 Cabin Crew Members Annually

A new training center in Barcelona, Spain for commercial aircraft pilots and cabin crew by simulator company CAE. It is located in Parc de Negocis Mas Blau II, near the main operations of Vueling Airlines, the anchor customer of the new facility. The inauguration was attended by government officials, Vueling Airlines and other commercial aircraft operators, as well as CAE employees.

"Spain is a very important civil aviation market in Europe and we are pleased to add a new location to deliver training in the Catalan region for our customers," said Jeff Roberts, CAE's Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. "CAE has a long association with Vueling and we are pleased to expand our partnership near its main operations in Barcelona."

"As we continue to grow, it will be increasingly important to have access to the highest-level of pilot and cabin crew training," said Alex Cruz, Chief Executive Officer, Vueling Airlines. "We are pleased that CAE has established this world-class training facility near our headquarters. The new facility will boost the local aviation industry and will allow us to instruct more personnel per year, which is a priority given the growth of our fleet."

The new facility has a capacity to train more than 600 pilots and 1,000 cabin crew per year. It features an A320 full-flight simulator and is expandable to four simulator bays. Vueling Airbus A320 pilots and cabin crew currently train at the new facility and training is available to other A320 operators.

CAE is currently recruiting cabin crew candidates for Vueling Airlines and will offer more than 20 cabin crew training courses per year at the new facility with about 30 students per class.

Barcelona is the third CAE training location in Spain. CAE has been training personnel for Vueling and other airlines in Madrid since 2002 and offers Boeing 737NG training in Palma de Mallorca. CAE is the world's largest provider of commercial aviation training and offers pilot and cabin crew training in 18 European locations.
