Tiffany Brown Had Been Named To The Post In July Of Last Year
Last July, Tiffany Brown was the first woman to be named Aviation Director in the State of Kansas. Last week, she announced she would be leaving that position to take one with the FAA in Denver, CO.
Brown (pictured) will start her new position with the FAA on February 8th as an engineer, working with the states of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.
"Having the opportunity to lead KDOT Aviation has been both challenging and exciting," said Brown. "The Kansas aviation industry is a wonderful community to be a part of and I was happy to serve them. I look forward to continuing my service in the aviation industry at the federal level."
When Brown was named to the Aviation Director post in July, the Wichita Eagle reported that she was the first woman in the 40 year history of the office to hold the title. In a news release at the time, Brown said "As the daughter to a professional skydiver my earliest memories were at an airport. I have deep appreciation for the aviation industry. I’m ecstatic to permanently take the lead of the division and continue to strive to enhance the lives of Kansans through aviation.”
Brown had been assistant director and state aviation engineer. She was made acting director in April before being given the position on a permanent basis in July.
The state of Kansas has posted the position on its website. The director is responsible for all outreach to aviation concerns, including all 385 public and private airports in the state and the total $20 billion aviation industry, serves as chair of the Kansas Airport Improvement Program (KAIP) Selection Committee and manages the Public Use General Aviation Airport Development Fund.
