Business-Av Variant Of ISO-9000 Standard
Dassault Falcon’s
Teterboro Flight Operations Department was recently awarded the
International Standard for Business Aviation Operations (IS-BAO)
Registration. IS-BAO is the accepted standard of aviation flight
departments worldwide as the benchmark for safety and efficiency in
business aircraft.
"We undertook this process to underscore our commitment to
operational safety, maintenance and efficiency," said Matt Boyle,
Senior Vice President at Dassault Falcon. "Dassault is an ISO-9000
registered company so we were already well aware of the benefits
that standardization brings to manufacturing and flying
organizations. The IS-BAO recognition brings an even higher level
of excellence to our flight operations department than ISO-9000
currently delivers."
IS-BAO challenges flight departments to review their current
systems, programs and procedures, recognize strengths and
weaknesses in those procedures, and upgrade to a higher standard.
IS-BAO is similar to an ISO-9000 standard of practice, but
specifically formulated for the business aviation community.
Adopting the IS-BAO is a self-guided process undertaken using
guidance provided by the organization. Implementation of the
standard is then audited by an approved ICAO audit team before
registration is approved. Unlike state regulations for commercial
aircraft operations, adopting the IS-BAO standard is a voluntary
process designed to integrate all the best safety and operating
procedures from various sources. It institutionalizes industry best
practices and must be reviewed every two years.
Dassault Falcon Jet employs a workforce of more than 2300
professionals who service, support and meet the needs of Falcon
operators in the Western Hemisphere. Since the rollout of the first
Falcon 20 in 1963, over 1800 Falcon jets have been sold to more
than 65 countries worldwide.
The family of Falcon jets currently in production includes four
tri-jets—the Falcon 50EX, 900DX, 900EX EASy, and the new
7X—as well as the twin-engine Falcon 2000, Falcon 2000DX and
Falcon 2000EX EASy.
