Aero-News Quote of the Day
"Southwest Airlines acted in conscious disregard for the
safety of its passengers on Flight 1248, as well as for the victims
on the ground and the general public."
Source: Attorney Daniel O. Rose, with the law
firm of Kreindler and Kreindler, in the announcement Friday of a
new lawsuit in the tragic accident at Chicago's Midway Airport last
December, that resulted in the death of a six-year-old boy. Now, a
passenger onboard the plane is suing the carrier -- as well as
Boeing, and the city of Chicago -- claiming physical and
psychological injuries as a result of the accident. Rose's main
beef is with the Dallas, TX-based LCC, however -- asserting that,
along with other runway overrun accidents in Burbank, CA and
Amarillo, TX over the past six years, the December overrun was a
result of the carrier's strict on-time performance demands -- and,
Rose says, a corporate culture that encourages cost savings over
safety concerns.
