Garmin is touting a new highly interactive, computer-based
training program that helps customers take advantage of the
features of their Garmin aviation products.
The eLearning Program, distributed on CD-ROM, is a standalone,
self-paced Windows compatible application, which uses a proven
multi-mode teaching system. Content is divided into sections and
does not need to be reviewed sequentially, so users can access and
learn about a specific topic of interest, whenever it’s
convenient for them. After choosing any of the over 50 topics,
users will watch a simulated multi-media demonstration of a task,
such as creating a flight plan. Then, for key topics, a
scenariobased, guided simulation system will help the user practice
the task by following step-bystep, on-screen prompts. Lastly, the
user can practice what they learned without the help prompts, to
reinforce and assess their skills. The program offers remediation
and also tracks the user’s progress throughout the
courseware.
Garmin has teamed with Pegasus Interactive to develop the
eLearning Program. Pegasus Interactive is a leading developer of
award-winning courseware and rich internet applications for the
aviation industry. The GPSMAP 696/695 eLearning Program CD-ROM is
available immediately from authorized Garmin dealers or from
Garmin.com for a suggested retail price of $99.95. Garmin expects
to expand the eLearning Program library and anticipates offering
web-based training for the GPSMAP 396, GPSMAP 496, GPSMAP 696/695,
GNS 430W/530W and G1000 in the future.
