U.K. Man Credits Done With Saving His Life

Was Found Up To His Armpits In A Swampy Area

A man who went missing while walking to his home in Brancaster, Norfolk U.K. through a field Saturday was located by authorities flying a drone, and he credits the aircraft with saving his life.

The BBC reports that Peter Pugh, 75, had been walking through a marshy field in the Titchwell Marshes on Sunday. He said he knew the area well, and decided to continue his shortcut thinking conditions would improve as he went.

But he told authorities while recovering in a hospital that he tripped and fell multiple times, and decided to take a few minutes to rest. But about 9:00 p.m. local time, the tide was coming in. He tried to swim to the next field, but could not get through the reeds.

Emergency services launched a drone along with helicopters to search for Pugh. He was spotted by the drone up to his armpits in water with his feet stuck in the mud.

Reed does not remember being rescued. He was treated for hypothermia at the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
