The 46-seat ATR 42-500, equipped with PW127M engines, will also be fitted with additional features to facilitate operations in Siberia and Russian Far North (ETOPS 120 minutes, operations down to - 45°C, special fuselage protection).

"After evaluating the range of available options for our new operations out of Krasnoyarsk, we have selected the ATR 42-500 to complement our B737NG fleet as it is the best suited for operations in the tough climatic conditions and airport infrastructure of Siberia and Russian Far North," said Kirill Buryy, General Director of Taimyr Airlines (NordStar Airlines). "Our new ATR 42-500 will allow us to operate a highly reliable service with the lowest operating costs of its category. The ATR 42-500 will burn 40% less fuel than the An-24s currently in operation within Krasnoyarsk region while cutting flight time. With the introduction of this new aircraft, Taimyr Airlines (NordStar Airlines) will offer Krasnoyarsk Region residents new air travel options at the highest standard of safety and comfort but at affordable fares."

"We are proud that one of the most dynamic and innovative Russian carriers, Taimyr Airlines (NordStar Airlines), has selected the ATR 42-500 as backbone of their new regional fleet," said Filippo Bagnato, Chief Executive Officer of ATR. "Our aircraft has the level of performance, reliability and economic efficiency that are needed for Taimyr Airlines (NordStar Airlines) to achieve its ambitious goals. We also look forward to further develop the ATR fleet in the high-growth Russian Federation market, one of the most promising in the world."
