Czech Republic Introduces Two New Aircraft

One LSA, One Workhorse Twin Coming From The Former SSR

By David Juwel

There seems to be a lot of GA activity in the Czech Republic, at least in the LSA segment of the market anyway. Tomark Aero has introduced a new 2-place light sport aircraft. The aircraft is all metal with side-by-side seats, dual controls, a vertical rising canopy and fixed landing gear.

There is a fair amount of baggage space behind the seats, and the aircraft can be used for glider towing. The Viper SD-4 is available with an 80hp Rotax for about $99,000, and a 100hp Rotax for about $101,500.

Another Czech company which is exhibiting LSAs at AirVenture 2011 this year has introduced a new twin turboprop utility aircraft. The EV-55 Outback from Evektor utilizes the PT6A-21 engine and carries 9-14 passengers or 4,000 lbs of cargo. It is capable of using unpaved runways. The cost of the new aircraft is expected to be approximately $2,000,000. They expect to be able to put it on floats in the future. They don't have one at the show, but there is information about the airplane available online.
