Drunk Professor Restrained On Korean Air

Overserved?

After consuming six drinks in the first hour of a Korean Air flight from Jakarta to Incheon, a university professor reportedly caused a disturbance and even tried to rush the cockpit. Police identified the 46-year-old man by his last name of Chung.

Chung was allegedly in a bad mood when he boarded the flight in Jakarta, Indonesia according to media reports. After sitting down in business class, he downed two glasses each of champagne, white wine, and red wine.

Chung became furious after flight attendants refused to serve him any more alcohol. Chung reportedly threw his food and plates at them. He seemed to calm down, but after a trip to the lavatory, again became agitated.

Chung reportedly 'shoved and throttled' a male flight attendant so the crew restrained him for about five minutes until he seemed to calm down. They released him only to have him charge the cockpit. He was physically returned to his seat and restrained again.

Flight attendants reported that he continued his ranting and raving for another 30 minutes, to the extent that other passengers demanded that they should gag him. Finally, Chung passed out.

He was taken into custody by police at Incheon International Airport and was questioned and released. His in-flight misconduct may cost him dearly, with fines, or even jail time if convicted.

"It appears I made mistakes while drunk out of my mind," Chung told police, according to media reports.
