The skies over Lakeland, Florida, will soon echo with the roar of historic military aircraft as the 50th SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, running from April 9-14, 2024, at Lakeland Linder International Airport, prepares to showcase the awe-inspiring Victory’s Arsenal Theatre. This eagerly anticipated segment promises daily presentations of warbirds, offering attendees a unique glimpse into the aerial combat history and valor of their crews.
Victory’s Arsenal Theatre will highlight a curated selection of aircraft that have etched their names into military history. From the courageous exploits of the Doolittle Raiders during World War II to the pioneering spirit of the Tuskegee Airmen and beyond, each featured aircraft has a storied past, having played pivotal roles in conflicts such as WWII and the Korean War.
The event kicks off on Wednesday, April 10th, with daily showcases set against the backdrop of SUN ‘n FUN’s warbird ramp. Spectators will have the chance to hear directly from the pilots and owners of these magnificent machines at 10:00 am and again at 11:30 am. The lineup spans the gamut of aviation history, from the Ryan PT-19 trainer's graceful lines to the formidable presence of a twin-engine B-25 Mitchell bomber and even the iconic tri-tail Lockheed Constellation, a symbol of American might and diplomacy.
Ron Kaplan, a revered figure in the aviation community, will serve as the master of ceremonies for Victory’s Arsenal Theater. Kaplan's illustrious career includes stints as the executive director of the National Aviation Hall of Fame. Additionally, Kaplan is the founder of the Ohio Air & Space Hall of Fame and Learning Center and is known for his exquisite warbird aviation art, bringing the stories of these aircraft to life through his detailed paintings.
The SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo is not just Florida’s largest annual convention but a tribute to the enduring legacy of aviation's finest hours. As visitors gather to witness the spectacle of Victory’s Arsenal Theatre, they will be transported back in time, reminded of the sacrifices and innovations achieved in the name of freedom and progress.
