The Air Force is releasing dramatic inflight pix of the new B-21 Raider, now undergoing flight test. Following its formal unveiling, Dec. 2, 2022, the B-21 Raider began flight testing at Edwards Air Force Base where it continues to make progress toward becoming the backbone of the U.S. Air Force bomber fleet. The B-21 Raider was designed as a dual-capable penetrating strike stealth bomber capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear munitions (when you care enough to send the very best...).
Florida Airport Now Eyes Quartet of Moving Options
Naples Airport has been handed four prospective sites to move into throughout its local county, but uprooting the entire operations won't come cheap or quick. Overall, Naples Airport management is evidently planning for the move to cost something around $800 million to $1.2 billion and not be complete until 2040 - and that's just the plan, imagine how bad reality will be! The airport doesn't seem to have a whole lot of choice, however. Naples Airport, in the grand tradition of small airfields across America, was originally founded as a military facility during the war, allowing it to spring up with a good foundation, generous runways, and a well-planned layout.
Patriotism AWOL... National Parks Service Refused To Approve The Necessary Permits
There are, occasionally, blisteringly dunderheaded bits of governmental incompetence to be found with increasing regularity... but the most recent move by the Nat'l Parks Service leaves us shaking our heads and a bit ashamed of Uncle Sam. The International Council of AirShows alerted us to the fact that the leaders of the Arsenal of Democracy consortium had planned to execute a World War II aircraft flyover at Mount Rushmore on Memorial Day to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. It would have been grand... and NOT a sight to miss. Unfortunately, the National Parks Service refused to approve the necessary permits, and regrettably, the planned flyover of h
The Great Plains Wing Started In The Omaha/Council Bluffs Area In 1984
Like their associates in Tampa Bay, the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Great Plains Wing has recently acquired a 1946 Fairchild PT-19. Purchased in 2023, the aircraft was officially assigned to the Wing, which is based in Council Bluffs, IA. The Unit, known for being the former home of the iconic P-51 Gunfighter, has been actively seeking ways to keep its members engaged and involved in aviation projects. The Great Plains Wing has been busy with the restoration of an Ercoupe, a project that has garnered much interest and effort from its members. However, the desire for an operational aircraft to complement the restoration efforts led the Wing to request an assignm
Legislation Establishes Bessie Coleman Women in Aviation Advisory Committee
The recent passage of the multi-year reauthorization of the FAA now sees its effects spring up around the industry, to the applause of those who got a fresh infusion of support. One group has celebrated their own return, with the members of the defunct 2022 Women in Aviation Advisory Board thanking the apparatus for bringing their own group back to life. Additionally, the WAAB won't be the only group resuscitated, since the reauthorization bill also mandates the establishment of the Bessie Coleman Women in Aviation Advisory Committee.

The court has approved Van's Aircraft's bankruptcy reorganization plans, settling a stressful period for the company with some pretty optimistic news. Van's Aircraft filed its Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization back in March, setting up their ideal path to recovery amidst some very expensive challenges. Blue Origin's seventh passenger flight ended with a smidgeon of drama when one of its 3 parachutes failed to fully deploy, forcing it to rely on its remaining 2 units. That's not the worst system failure in the world, since the triple-chute system sports redundancy as a baseline, but it's always a little discomfiting to rely on a backup whenever parachutes are involved. Women in Aviation International (WAI) members and friends will honor the valiant service of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) by visiting their graves and leaving an appro

General Atomics' run at developing the Liberty Lifter ground effect aircraft has been put to rest, with their competitor, Aurora Flight Sciences, retaining theirs for the time being. The Liberty Lifter is one funky duck, as far as prospective military projects go. Looking forward to a contentious Pacific theater, DoD planners see a dire need for seaborne transport, beyond the old school's island-hopping and airstrip-chopping. Revisions to IFR, PPL, CPLL, CFI Finally Here After Years of Work
The FAA will soon put the new Airman Certification Standards into effect for a handful of outstanding certificates, capping off years of work in moving away from the serviceable but imperfect Practical Test Standards of yore. The changed ACS will include some of the bigger names in any young pilot's lineup of boss battles, with particular attention given to the helicopter folks this time around...

Hummingbird's 300L helicopter was awarded "Best Helicopter" at the recent Sun 'n Fun fly-in, garnering some serious bragging rights for the design. Vertical Aviation took a brief moment to make a little victory lap for their Hummingbird 300L, noting its popularity around the show. Their display aircraft was completed by Frank McMullan and Vic Syracuse, who did a great job with a multi-layer black, red, and gold striped livery. It's a nice showing for a fresh addition to the world of kit helicopters. Hybrid eVTOL manufacturer, or better said, developer, showed off its
Massive Aviation News Event Started 2024 Off With a Plethora of Exciting Info
Last year, we introduced the SnF Innovation Preview in which 25 companies introduced over 30 new planes, products, engines, accessories, and more… in other words… a LOT of news. Rotax previewed the powerful 916iS, CubCrafters showcased the Carbon Cub UL, Bose introduced the A30, Aerox revealed the Boomula… and so much more. Business Jet Gains Recognition of In-Flight Internet Provider
Business Jet, a Dallas company out of Love Field (Southwest Airlines' old stomping grounds), has been added as a Starlink dealer and installer. The firm cites a variety of Starlink benefits over the usual roster of air-to-ground 'connectivity solutions', saying it offers a higher speed, lower latency connection with global coverage and easy integration to boot. Today, STCs on tap with Business Jet include the Gulfstream G450, G550, G650/ER/GV and Bombardier Global 6000, Express, and XRS.

Two aircraft performing at the Fort Lauderdale Air Show clipped wings during a routine last Sunday, spooking onlookers. The aircraft were performing as a part of the Polaris Ghost Squadron, a team of urban-camo milsurplus jets hailing from across Eastern Europe. The Polaris Ghost Squadron features an eye-catching MiG-29, a trio of Alpha Jets, and a quartet of Albatros L39s. The US Air Force won't be bringing back a damaged B-2A Spirit bomber, further whittling away at the irreplaceable fleet of strategic aircraft. UVify is claiming a new Guinness World Record for the most unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) airborne simultaneously. This event took place in Songdo, Korea, where UVify orchestrated a display of 5,293 IFO drones that lit up the night sky. The fleet of IFO drones created intricate patterns and visuals above the crowd, showcasing UVify's programming and drone control technology. The record-breaking feat exceeded the previous record. Airbus has completed the acquisition of US-based Aerovel and its unmanned aerial system (UAS), Flexrotor. Flexrotor is a small tactical unmanned
Easy Online Forms Available For Sport Plane Manufacturers And Suppliers To Be Listed In The Upcoming eSPRG
Work on the SportPlane Resource Guide is going well… Albeit a little bit behind schedule, because as we got into this process, things became a bit more complicated simply because we learned we could do an even better job at certain aspects of this project than we thought from the beginning. They say that the enemy of true quality is the phrase "good enough" and we want to be far more than “good enough.”

Likely That The Pilot Landed The Airplane With Excessive Speed And Lost Directional Control
Analysis: The pilot reported that while landing the airplane slowed and, as the nosewheel touched down, the airplane abruptly lurched to the side. The airplane exited the runway surface, struck a berm, became airborne, and came to rest nose down near the airport perimeter fence. The firewall, left wing, and rudder sustained substantial damage. A postaccident examination of the flight controls and landing gear revealed no mechanical anomalies that would have precluded normal operations; the damage was consistent with impact and overload from the accident sequence.
From 2019 (YouTube Version): King Schools Founders See A Shift In Flight Training Focus
The founders of one of the best-known flight training businesses say they are seeing a shift in the focus of people beginning flight training. In an interview with Aero-News Editor in Chief Jim Campbell at AirVenture 2018, John King said that more people are starting their flight training with the intention of going into an aviation career, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. King said that as they continue their training, they may realize that they don't want to work for a big company and be traveling all the time, but will fall in love with flying. M

Emphasis On Growing The Future of Aviation Through Concentration on 'AFFORDABLE FLYERS'
It's been a number of years since the Latest Edition of Jim Campbell's HUGE SportPlane Resource Guide first saw the light of day. That massive 1100 page book last featured over 800 exciting sport aircraft from all over the SportPlane universe... at a time when the SportPlane industry was still a healthy, thriving enterprise (those were the days...). While there has been some consideration, off and on, toward updating the nearly 5 pound book, the near implosion of the SportPlane and kit industry over the last decade has made such a pursuit an unwieldy one... until now.
It’s been a while since we have reminded everyone about all the ways we offer your daily dose of aviation news on-the-go...so here is a full list of ways you can subscribe to our channels and get notifications when there are new episodes or breaking news!

There's A Lot To Like On ANN's Latest Social Media Site
We all know how important Social Media is to a lot of people, particularly those under 30. We also know how important those folks are to the future of aviation. In so many forums and at so many events, we talk about how to attract the next generation of pilots, mechanics, and enthusiasts to our industry, and social media is certainly critical to getting the message out to those who practically live online.
“We worked hard to put together an extraordinary event that would honor our World War II heroes, on the day that we remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice serving our nation. We are grateful for the support that we received from the FAA, members of Congress, and committed sponsors. Unfortunately, National Parks Service bureaucrats would not let us proceed with our commemoration of the Greatest Generation despite having previously received clearances and held a successful event in our nation’s capital – the most protected airspace in the nation. It is extremely disappointing that we could not move forward with this commemoration, but we
