Interim CEO Gregory Davis Gets a Promotion Before Promising Taxi Performance for E-Commuter

Eviation has been hard at work on their all-electric commuter aircraft, completing their first high-speed taxi test days after announcing the installation of Gregory Davis as Chief Executive Officer. The company updated aviation enthusiasts with a short video of the test, showing their twin engine (or, twin motor) aircraft accelerating down the runway with relaxed stability before nosing up and easing the front wheel off the tarmac a couple times for good measure. With the test successful, it was handshakes all around before heading back to the hangar to prepare for the next milestone.

Next-Generation Strategic Bomber Set for Reveal Ahead of Continuing Development

The Air Force confirmed plans to reveal the long awaited B-21 Raider by year’s end, finally showing off the futuristic replacement for both the B-1 and B-2 bombers. The B-21’s unveiling will take place at a Northrop Grumman ceremony held at its production facilities in Palmdale, California in the first week of December. The Raider will be an immensely important aircraft, taking a prime position in the United States’ nuclear deterrent forces as a highly survivable, long-range, penetrating strike bomber.

Gulfstream has announced the all-new Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines by which its G700 and ultralong-range G800 aircraft are to be powered have achieved EASA certification. Gulfstream president Mark Burns remarked: “The certification of the Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines for the G700 and G800 is a significant step that brings us closer to delivering these game-changing aircraft to our customers..." Soviet-era cosmonaut Valery Polyakov, who logged the single longest stay in space, has died at the age of 80. In a social media post, officials of Roscosmos, the state entity responsible for the entirety of the Russian Federation’s space undertakings, wrote: “The Roscosmos State Corporation regrets to announce the death of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Russia, USSR pilot-cosmonaut, holder of the world record for the longest flight into space (437 days) Valery Polyakov. We express our deep condolences to the relatives and friends of Valery Vladimirovich."

FAA Denies Request to Consider Private, Part 141 R-ATP Flight School Equivalent to Military Pilot Training

The RAA has weighed in on the FAA's decision to deny a Republic Airways attempt to lessen the experience requirement for those pilots graduating from their LIFT Flight Academy. The airline filed a petition last April requesting an exemption from Part 61.160, arguing that its Restricted-ATP program sufficiently resembles US Military training in quality and spirit. If granted, the exemption would allow graduates of its pilot school to fly under the same experience requirements as former military aviators. Smaller, Lighter, Tanker May See Success as Flexible, Improvised-Runway Ready Refueler

L3Harris and Embraer have inked a deal to develop an "Agile Tanker" in their efforts to address USAF operational requirements in "contested logistics environments." The deal will expand the capabilities of the Embraer KC-390 Millennium tactical tanker aircraft, using it as a canvas to create a more advanced, resilient variant of the refueler. The changes will include an improved refueling boom, more robust systems to support agile or improvised basing, greater endurance, and resilient communications systems supporting JADC2 requirements.

Parts Manufacturer For General, Business, Rotary, And Military Aviation Finds New Home

Parker-Hannifin Corporation has completed the sale of the Aircraft Wheel and Brake Division, headquartered in Avon, Ohio to Kaman Corporation of Bloomfield Connecticut. Their new home will see the division leave a "leader in motion and control technologies" and move to a "leading manufacturer of components and materials for aerospace, defense, industrial, and medical markets." The European Commission cleared the acquisition of Meggitt PLC by Parker with some conditions, earlier this year setting the sale into motion.
