Alpine Eagle Counter-Drone Sentinel Tech Trials Successful

Deployed Operationally With Ukrainian Armed Forces

Alpine Eagle, a startup based in Munich, Germany, announced the successful completion of field trials of its Sentinel air-to-air counter-UAS system operationally deployed with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The trials were a significant advancement in defense technology for European nations, with Ukraine serving as the testing ground for autonomous systems. The trials offer actionable operational feedback quickly, within weeks rather than months or years. The trials also demonstrated how AI can shape defenses while also being scalable.

During the field testing, the Sentinel system underwent rigorous in-country trials with Ukrainian forces, demonstrating its effectiveness in a very important operational theater for European security.

Alpine Eagle has been invited to return for further testing and collaboration with Ukrainian forces along with plans for a deeper level of engagement over the longer term.

Ukraine represents a critical testing ground for autonomous defense technologies and an important operational environment that provides rapid and invaluable feedback for Alpine Eagle.

The feedback helps inform Alpine Eagle’s advancements in cutting-edge technologies that include machine learning, advanced sensors, and synthetic vision to detect, classify, and neutralize hostile UAVs. The system is driven by Sentinel, Alpine Eagle’s air-to-air sensor and interceptor network that integrates high levels of automation and data fusion that enables an airborne swarm of defensive sensors and interceptors to be controlled by a single operator.

Jan-Hendrik Boelens, Co-founder and CEO of Alpine Eagle said, "Ukraine has a clear and pressing need for effective, scalable, and mobile C-UAS capabilities that can effectively integrate into their force structure.

“The war in Ukraine has driven so much of the development of drone technology, and any European UAS or C-UAS company needs to be able to demonstrate its product in Ukraine, because ultimately, Ukraine's security is Europe's security. Ukrainians deserve to live in a country that's peaceful and secure, so being able to help them reach that goal is the single most important thing we could be doing right now.”
