GACA Awards Riyadh Air Flight Sim License

Enhances Pilot Training Prior To Starting Commercial Ops

Riyadh Air in Saudi Arabia announced it has been awarded an operational certificate by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) for its first advanced full-flight Boeing 787-9 RX7000 simulator that will establish a world-class pilot training environment and signal a critical milestone prior to the airline’s inauguration of commercial operations in 2025.

Captain Sulaiman Al-Muhaimedi, Executive Vice President for Aviation Safety and Environmental Sustainability for GACA officially presented the license to Peter Bellew, CEO of Riyadh Air.

The simulator is an important addition for Riyadh Air’s expanding training infrastructure and will enhance pilot readiness while also furthering safety benchmarks. It provides an immersive and highly responsive training experience that enables pilots to optimize performance, refine skills, and ensure seamless operational execution.

Bellew said, “This milestone underscores our commitment to world-class pilot training and operational excellence. The advanced simulator will enhance our pilots' capabilities, aligning with Riyadh Air's ambition to redefine aviation standards and deliver a next-level flying experience. We will continue investing in cutting-edge solutions that drive efficiency, safety, and excellence across our operations."

Riyadh Air solidifies its vision and commitment to innovation to enhance safety, operational efficiency, and redefine standards for the industry through this investment in leading-edge technology.

The advanced capabilities of this training technology aligns with the nation’s aviation strategy that targets meaningful growth in passenger capacity to 330 million along with 4.5 million tons of air cargo by 2030 and expanding the kingdom’s air network to 250 destinations.
