Modular Racing Drone Designed For Beginners

But It Will Top Out At About 100 MPH

Drone racing is fun and exciting for both the spectators and the pilots. But that latter group also can face a lot of expense when it comes to their hobby. Racing drones, and the associated equipment needed to participate, can be pretty spendy, particularly in a sport where crashes and damage are expected.

But the Draco drone and the Draco HD drone are designed to be less expensive up front, and their modular design makes them easier to repair, in a lot of cases.

The Draco racing drone is ready to fly right out of the box. You don't need to be handy with a soldering iron to get into the game. Hyon Lim, CEO of dronemaker UVify, told Forbes in a recent interview that he the Draco was designed for someone who just wants to fly, not tinker. The aircraft has interchangeable parts that can be snapped together as easily as inserting Tab "A" into Slot "B".

Lim told Forbes that Tesla is the company's role mode. "We are heavily customer oriented, not technology oriented," he said. "We're pushing out technology to be as convenient as possible to our pilots, and speed up production."

The Draco drone retails for $699, with the Draco HD ringing the cash register at $100 more. Pilots who buy the lower-priced model can easily upgrade it to the digital HD variant by purchasing the digital module that plugs directly into the body of the aircraft.
