Major uAvionix Software Upgrade Receives FAA Green Light

Version 3.0.1 for the Company’s Flagship AV-30-C Flight Display Earns Approval

The FAA recently gave its nod approval to the latest software version of uAvionix’s certified AV-30-C flight display. This upgrade aims to provide both feature and functionality improvements for VFR and IFR pilots.

The AV-30-C is widely used in general aviation as a replacement for the traditional AI or DG in VFR or IFR operations. It combines multiple flight instruments into a baby digital display, fitting in a standard 3.125-inch instrument cutout.

Software version 3.0.1 adds several capabilities to the AV-30-C, including a turn coordinator with selectable bank angle or turn rate display, rate of climb overlay in feet per nautical mile, high/low voltage alerts, and G-force minimum/maximum tracking. It also introduces a vertical speed indicator overlay on the traffic display screen.

A major part of the update is FAA-approved integration with two other uAvionix products: the AV-HSI and AV-APA. When connected through the AV-HSI PMA interface, the AV-30-C can now receive digital navigation and GPS data from IFR navigators. This enables horizontal and vertical guidance, heading bug synchronization, and GPS steering functionality across up to four connected AV-30-C displays. AV-APA autopilot adapters also allow compatibility with STEC autopilots.

Pilots using the AV-30-C with either AV-Link wireless modules or the AV-HSI serial connection can access the update directly and install it free of charge without removing the unit from the aircraft. Once installed, features and settings are synchronized across multiple AV-30-C units, creating a connected cockpit environment that targets improved situational awareness and reduced pilot workload.

Software version 3.0.1 is now available to customers through the uAvionix support portal.
