Avidyne iPad Demo App For IFD540 & IFD440 Released

Latest iPad App Adds All Of The New IFD540 Release 10.1 Functionality

A new version of Avidyne's IFD-Series FMS/GPS/NAV/COM iPad Application is now available on the Apple iTunes App Store.

The updated iPad App provides fully-interactive, free-play demonstration capability for the new IFD440, as well as adding new IFD540 functionality that is representative of Avidyne’s soon-to-be-certified Release 10.1 software.

“We are pleased to be able to bring this updated R10.1 software release to the iPad Demo Sim,” said Dan Schwinn, Avidyne CEO. “We already have a huge installed base of IFD540 owners plus we are seeing even greater demand for the IFD440, and this R10.1 iPad App provides these customers and potential buyers with valuable product familiarization, the ability to try out all the new features, and to see just how easy these products are to use.”

Release 10.1 (R10.1) is Avidyne’s latest software upgrade for IFD540-Series FMS/GPS/NAV/COMs. R10.1 is also the baseline software for Avidyne’s first release of the smaller-screen IFD440 FMS/GPS/NAV/COM. For IFD540 owners, R10.1 adds new functionality such as support for display of ADS-B/ FIS-B weather, scrollable data blocks, expanded checklists, rubber-banding of the active flight plan leg, and multiple-user customization, multiple checklists, user settings, user-defined waypoints, routes, and more. R10.1 also adds support for control of Avidyne's new remote-mounted AXP322 remote transponder. Certification of the IFD440 and the field-loadable R10.1 upgrade for the IFD540 is expected later this month.

The R10.1 version of the IFD540/IFD440 iPad App is available now as a free download from the Apple iTunes App store.

The actual IFD540 GPS/NAV/COM/FMS has a plug & play List Price of $16,995 and is available now (with R10.0.3 software). The IFD440 has a plug & play list price of $14,995 and will be available upon certification of R10.1. The field-loadable Release 10.1 software upgrade will be offered at no charge for all current IFD540 customers. Avidyne expects certification and initial deliveries of the IFD440 and Release 10.1 software for the IFD540 by end of June 2015.

Once certified, Avidyne will begin scheduling orders through authorized dealers for the R10.1 upgrade.
