Aero-TV: An MGL Avionics Update - A Clear Winner Even In Bright Sun

MGL Continues TO Impress With Affordable/Readable/Customizable Avionics That WORK

ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, had just finished a flight in a Sling 4 airplane that was equipped with an MGL Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) and he wanted to know more about it. So, he sat down with Matt Liknaitzky, the president of MGL Avionics USA to get some details about their products.

Jim mentioned he was very impressed with the brilliance of the display and Liknaitzky said that was a key part of their design. Because the MGL products are used around the world and in many different types of cockpit configurations for airplanes and helicopters, they knew a brilliant and readable display was important.

MGL’s systems are not FAA TSO’ed which means they’re intended for the experimental and light sport market. Liknaitzky mentioned that their new product, referred to as the ‘Lite series,’ offers some great advantages to the homebuilder. For example, with the exception of the engine sensor box, the entire EFIS is self-contained. The pitot-static system, gyro sensors, and GPS are all located in the panel mounted unit. All that’s required for installation is hooking up the engine sensor and pitot-static inputs, and running a cable from the engine sensors to the back of the instrument display.

In the video, these features are shown and more information is provided on the operation of the system. This video provides a great way to be introduced to the MGL EFIS and find out if it might be the right choice for your experimental airplane.
