Nippon Cargo To Use ARINC’s HF Data Link and SatComm

Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) has selected two advanced ARINC communications services to enhance its long-range operations and meet the needs of its expanding international air freight delivery network.

NCA operates 11 Boeing B747F cargo aircraft on international routes to 20 cities worldwide. Already a customer of ARINC’s HF Voice service, the airline has now contracted for two additional ARINC communications services—GLOBALinkSM High Frequency (HF) Data Link, and GLOBALink/Satellite.

“Today's business customers rely more and more on the efficient delivery of air cargo,” stated Mr. Yutaka Okuzaki, NCA’s Manager for IT Planning and Promotion. “Our new HF data link and satellite services from ARINC will make us more competitive, with better flight communications worldwide for the most efficient operations possible.”

By adding data link capability and satellite coverage, the airline will gain speed and efficiency in its air/ground communications. It will also reduce the number of routine voice messages pilots must make during each flight.

“With these new services NCA will have complete global voice and data coverage to enhance their operations on international, oceanic, and polar routes,” said Randy Pizzi, ARINC’s Managing Director, Asia/Pacific. “We are very pleased to support the expanding operations of Japan’s foremost air cargo specialist.”

NCA is expanding its North American distribution network and plans to operate 3 new cargo freighters (B747-400F) on polar routes linking Europe and North America. Since satellite coverage does not reach above 80° north latitude, ARINC’s HF data link and HF voice services are the only unbroken communications services available on these routes.

ARINC’s HF Data Link service enables accurate, text-based, real-time reporting of aircraft information such as departures, destinations, movement times and engine parameters. ARINC GLOBALink/Satellite service enables crisp, clear crew and passenger voice communications from the aircraft.

Nippon Cargo Airlines has built a reputation for safe, fast and reliable performance since 1985. NCA meets the ever-changing needs of its customers through an advanced delivery system, attention to detail, and convenient delivery schedules.
