Company Introduces Higher Power Engine Options... 200 and 235 HP

DeltaHawk Engines is pumping things up... and has added two new higher horsepower engine models to its family of jet-fueled piston engines. Both of the new engines are based upon the architecture of the company's DHK180, which was FAA Certified in April 2023 and is now being readied for production ahead of anticipated deliveries later this year. The two new models are the DHK200, which will produce Rated Take-Off Power (RTP) and Maximum Continuous Power (MCP) of 200 horsepower, and the DHK235 which will produce an RTP and MCP of 235 horsepower.

Rotor Is Building The First Two R550Xs At Its Facilities In Nashua, N.H.

The live flight of the R220Y, an uncrewed R&D aircraft based on the Robinson R22 2-seat helicopter, took place at Nashua Airport on January 30, 2024, before a crowd of around 100 people. The aircraft performed a full startup procedure, hovered in front of the audience, made turning maneuvers, and descended to land after approximately three minutes in the air. To the company’s knowledge, this historic flight is 'the first time' that an uncrewed full-scale helicopter has ever flown publicly.

B4UFLY Service Shows Recreational Drone Flyers Where They Can And Cannot Fly

The FAA is now partnering with several companies to offer drone pilots more places to receive official airspace awareness information. The FAA’s B4UFLY service shows recreational drone flyers where they can and cannot fly. The FAA has approved four companies to provide B4UFLY services through desktop and mobile applications. Approved companies will offer multiple ways to access B4UFLY and bring recreational flyers the latest airspace awareness information directly from the agency. The rule for operating unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or drones under 55 pounds in the National Airspace System (NAS) is 14 CFR Part 107, referred to as the Small UAS Rule.

ICAO Three-Letter Designator (3LD) An ICAO 3LD is an exclusive designator that, when used together with a flight number, becomes the aircraft call sign and provides distinct aircraft identification to air traffic control (ATC). ICAO approves 3LDs to enhance the safety and security of the air traffic system. An ICAO 3LD may be assigned to a company, agency, or organization and is used instead of the aircraft registration number for ATC operational and security purposes. An ICAO 3LD is also used for aircraft identification in the flight plan and associated messages and can be used for domestic and international flights. A telephony associated with an ICAO 3LD is used for radio communication.
