Sun 'n Fun is Expanding the Career Fair All Week

Extra Time Allotted for Job Searchers

The Career Fair will be held from April 9th to the 14th from 0900 to 1700 hrs every day. Things just keep getting bigger, too, with more exhibitors and booths than ever. Originally, the Fair only opened its doors for a single day of the show, eventually stretching on and up to become a constant presence after half a century of Sun 'n Fun.

USCG Taps Pilotsafety.org for Avionics Training

Operators Going Back to Master the Basics

Gary Reeves of Pilotsafety.org has been making the rounds in Texas, setting up back to back training courses with the US Coast Guard and Houston Police Department. Reeves brought his compendium of advanced avionics know-how to the USCG first, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the capabilities and flows of their nifty new glass panels, before hopping on to a 3-day 'Mastery, Not Minimums' clinic with the PD. Reeves has been flying for 20 years in the fray of GA operations, with more than 8,500 hours of real IFR soup time in his book. As such, he's picked up all the ins and outs of the average GA instrument panel, whether that's a Garmin, Bendix King, Avidyne, or even Foreflight.

Quito, Ecuador Schedules Runway Maintenance

Maintenance Planned Well in Advance for Equatorial Aerodrome

Ecuador's Mariscal Sucre Quito International Airport has announced a few chunks of downtime for runway maintenance, describing some taxiway work and mainline repairs that will put the airport out of commission for windows in May, June, July, and September. The maintenance work will cover more than 70,000 square meters of runway, helping to prevent emergency corrective work should existing wear and tear worsen in the future.

NTSB Prelim: Cirrus Design Corp SR20

The Pilot Under Instruction Was “Under The Hood” Conducting An Instrument Approach

On February 27, 2024, at 1622 eastern standard time, a Cirrus Design Corp SR20, N485DA, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Sanford, Florida. The pilot receiving instruction was seriously injured, and the flight instructor and a back seat observing  pilot were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight. The flight departed Sanford International Airport (SFB), Sanford, Florida, at 1718 for an instrument training lesson.
