Revised AD For Certain Robinson Helicopters

Replacing Clutch Actuator Bracket Rivets In Some R44 And R44 II S/Ns

The FAA has published an Airworthiness Directive (AD) for Robinson R44 and R44 II helicopters with certain serial numbers (S/Ns), for rivets attaching the belt tension clutch actuator brackets to the fan scroll housing. Reports of failures of these rivets and subsequent failure of the clutch actuator prompted this update to an existing AD.

Ogden Becomes First In State, 27th Facility Worldwide

Avflight Corp. announced its acquisition of Kemp Jet Services at Ogden Regional Airport (KOGD), expanding its footprint to become the first Avflight FBO in Utah and the 27th globally. The transaction became effective on December 9, 2024. The OGD facility is located centrally in the U.S. and will serve as a gateway to Utah’s scenic destinations and also larger cities in the region such as Salt Lake City, Cheyenne, and the Denver area.

NTSB Prelim: Mooney M20J

Pilot Reported Moderate To Heavy Turbulence At His Reported Altitude Of 5,000 Ft

On November 24, 2024, at about 1809 eastern standard time, a Mooney M20J, N58156, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Windham, New York. The pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulation Part 91 personal flight. The airplane departed from Harford County Airport (0W3), Churchville, Maryland around 1640 and was destined for Albany International Airport (ALB), Albany, New York. Sunset at ALB had occurred at 1625 and the end of civil twilight was at 1656.
