Boeing Plays Scrooge Just Days Before Christmas

2,200 Layoffs In WA, 220 In SC

Boeing will lay off 2,199 workers in Washington state and another 220 in South Carolina on December 20. Employees in Oregon and Missouri will also be impacted but those numbers were not shared. The layoffs are part of Boeing’s plan to cut about 10% of its global workforce, or about 17,000 jobs, in an effort to stem the company’s financial bleeding as it tries to regain its footing.

Qantas And CAE Open New Sydney Training Center

Partnered On Purpose-Built Facility To Train Qantas And Jetstar Pilots

Qantas Group and CAE jointly announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art pilot training facility in St. Peters near the Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (IATA: SYD, ICAO: YSSY) in Australia. The facility was developed by a partnership between Qantas and CAE, and is now home to five full-flight simulators, three fixed-training devices, and ten classrooms. Additional batches of equipment will be delivered in the coming months and years, including Australia’s first Airbus A350 simulators to train Qantas pilots on the ultra-long haul Project Sunrise flights.
