After Jack Pelton was mentioned in a CBS' 60 Minutes piece a few
weeks ago as having college degrees from a bogus diploma mill, the
industry gossip suggested that his days at Cessna were
numbered.
Apparently not.
A New Jersey man has admitted he flashed a laser on not one, but
two aircraft near Teterboro Airport. Now, David Banach of
Parsippany faces charges under the federal government's Patriot
Act.
The "Rebel Billionaire" Is NOT Reality TV... It's
Nonsense
For the few of you who actually suffered through one of the
latest attempts at Reality TV, The Richard Branson "Rebel
Billionaire" program has been an uncommon disappointment. To those
of us in aviation, it's also a truly low moment.. in that a
fascinating program that has already brought the wonders of Zero
Gravity flight to hundreds of people, was unfairly and inaccurately
portrayed for the sake of cheap ratings...

Wanted: Cargo planes to carry relief supplies to tsunami victims
in South Asia. That word comes from the UN, as the effort to
provide food, water and medicine to millions of people in 11
countries kicked into high gear this week.
This could get ugly -- word of plans that the Pentagon wants to
cut $30 billion out of the budgets of companies like
Lockheed-Martin and Northrop-Grumman. Those two companies would
reportedly bear the brunt of cuts to weapons systems across the
board.
The 13 people killed when a Corporate Airlines Jetstream 32 went
down in Missouri last October. Those were the only commercial
aircraft fatalities of 2004.
NASA started the year on an upbeat and positive note, when
President George W. Bush announced the Vision for Space Exploration
on January 14. His announcement at NASA Headquarters in Washington
of a robust space exploration program to advance US scientific,
security and economic interests became the keystone for NASA's
transformation.
New Company, INFLight, Will Offer Kits Later This Month
American Aviation Company (AAC), Bede Corporation (BD) and
Xtreme Alternative Defense Systems (XADS) have joined forces to
offer new life to the BD-5 Aircraft first offered by Jim Bede in
the 1970s’and made popular by the movie "Octopussy."
The Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels,
deployed Sunday to Naval Air Facility (NAF) El Centro, CA, to
prepare for the upcoming show season.

Kermit Week's L-1 Stinson is on the road to recovery at his
unique aviation attraction in Polk City, FL. This particular L-1E
survived the war, survived the perilous years as a camera ship in
California for Tallmantz Aviation culminating in its use in the
Hollywood hit movie, "Waldo Pepper", towed banners over trendy

Team Warrior to Participate in Systems Capabilities

UAV manufacturer General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, along
with its “Team Warrior” partners AAI Corporation and
SPARTA, Inc., Tuesday announced that it has been selected as one of
two finalists for the US Army’s Extended Range Multi-Purpose
(ERMP) UAV Program.

In Conjunction With The Opening Of The Flight Operations Test
Center
On February 7, aircraft from a number airports around Florida
will participate in a Small Aircraft Transportation System
(SATS)/Community Air Service Initiative (CASI) demonstration. The
aircraft will fly to Tallahassee, where pilots will see first
hand the SATS technologies and learn about the economic development
opportunities associated with SATS airports.
It's one of the more arcane aspects of aircraft design -- and
yet terribly vital. It's the design and construction of perfectly
scaled, perfectly detailed wind tunnel models and for years, one of
the best in the business was Othello P. Dickert. ANN has learned
that Dickert passed away last month after suffering complications
from circulation problems in his legs. He was 95.
Will Lead Technical Service Department At iviation
Peter Schouwenaars has been appointed to direct the development
and operation of the Technical Services Department at iviation. As
Director of Technical Services for the Memphis-based aviation
company, Schouwenaars will oversee development of aircraft
maintenance programs, asset management, maintenance facilities and
personnel.
"I hope all modes of transportation could replicate aviation's
safety record."
