It was an Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon that dropped precision
munitions near Al Nussayyib, Iraq, Sept. 25 killing Abu Nasr
al-Tunisi and two other al-Qaida Iraq operatives, according to Air
Force officials.
The commanding general of 1st Marine Aircraft Wing presented two
squadrons with the Chief of Naval Operations 2006 Naval Aviation
Safety Award at their hangars Sept. 18. Brig. Gen. Robert Schmidle
spoke to the Marines of Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262 and
Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 about the
significance of the award, which is presented to units for having
an occupational mishap-free year.
The F-22 Raptor Combined Test Force staff conducted the first
airborne separation of a small diameter bomb from the internal
weapons bay of an F-22 during a September test mission at Edwards
Air Force Base, California.
