"Whenever there's anything that anybody asks a question about,
no one wants to take any chances."
Source: Midwest spokeswoman Carol Skornicka,
defending her airline after someone on a flight from Milwaukee to
San Francisco Sunday night noticed what looked like Arabic
handwriting on a page inside the in-flight magazine. The passenger
told the cabin crew, the cabin crew told the flight crew and the
flight crew decided it would be better to be safe than sorry. The
aircraft returned to the gate and the passengers were offloaded
into hotels for the night. In the end, Skornicka said the writing
was actually Farsi and was something like a prayer, "something of a
contemplative nature."
