Estes, AIAA, And NSTA’s Giant Aerospace Education Initiative

Model Rocketry And Aerospace Giants Estes, AIAA, And NSTA Launch Joint Initiative On Aero Education

Earlier this month model rocketry and aerospace giants Estes Industries, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) launched a joint initiative geared towards inspiring youth (K12) education in Aerospace across the nation's classrooms.  This multi-year initiative seeks to employ research-based experiences through lesson plans and curriculum storylines to essentially guide students to develop critical thinking and conceptual learning. The trio are hopeful of driving the next generation of our STEM workforce, by removing barriers, providing opportunities for access and engagement, and equally important, one that is representative of our communities.

Estes Industries is an American company that has been in business done 1958. It’s synonymous with model rocketry and aerospace education, and has an extensive variety of materials that have been used over the years to further the knowledge and education of Youth and adults alike. Estes is a family run business and a leading manufacturer of model Rockets, engines, kits, launch pads, AltiTraks, and other accessories.

The AIAA, considered the world's largest Aerospace technical Society has about 30,000 members in over 90 countries, and brings together industry, academia, and government to advance STEM in aviation, space, and defense.

The NSTA’s membership of over 40,000 science-educated professionals are committed to employing the best practices in teaching STEM and its impact on student learning. The NSTA offers training to educators so they can grow professionally and excel in their careers. New and experienced educators are encouraged to join the NSTA to network with like-minded peers on a national scale, connect with mentors/researchers, and learn from them.

The National Association of Rocketry is a great resource for those interested in learning more about model rocketry or locating a local group to observe or launch.
