TSA Names Federal Security Director For JFK International Airport

Michael Scott Will Oversee All TSA Functions At JFK

TSA has tapped Michael A. Scott as Federal Security Director (FSD) for John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). As FSD, he will oversee all TSA operations at the airport, TSA said Monday.

"Mike has most recently overseen TSA operations at LaGuardia, MacArthur and Westchester County airports and the Manhattan Heliports, and this selection formalizes the leadership team at JFK," said Lee Kair, Assistant Administrator for Security Operations. "Mike's skill set and experience are key to the success of our overall operations in New York."

Scott has spent more than 40 years in construction and engineering management as well as the management and direction of large organizations. He was responsible for operating budgets in excess of $300 million and capital program budgets of $500 million while employed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Scott directed numerous critical response and recovery operations in the aftermath of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. He prepared the functional design and Concept of Operations for the Port Authority's first Emergency Operations Center and new Central Police Desk, which were put in operation in 2004.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Management Science degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.
