Best of Osh25: H55, Bristell Display A First For GA Aircraft At EAA AirVenture

B23 Energic Only Aircraft In Both Electric And Combustion Versions At Show

Switzerland-based H55 and Bristell achieved a unique place in aviation at this year’s EAA AirVenture airshow and fly-in at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, with its display of currently the only aircraft certified under CS/FAR-23 available in both fully electric and combustion engine versions. The two Bristell B23 versions are on display at Booths #296 and 297.

The fully electric two-seat B23 Energic was developed based on the B23 base model, referred to as the B23 912 due to being equipped with the Rotax 912 combustion engine. It is powered by the H55 electric propulsion system, or EPS, and will enter service in the U.S. in 2027. It is primarily designed for flight schools and general aviation, has a very low noise profile with zero emissions and its operating costs are comparable to piston-powered aircraft of the same size.

H55 was founded by several of the senior management of the Solar Impulse project, André Borschberg, Sébastien Demont, and Gregory Blatt. Solar Impulse circumnavigated the Earth using only solar power, launching from Abu Dhabi in March 2015 and returning in July 2016.

Borschberg, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman said, “Flying around the world without fuel proved what was possible. With H55, we’re making electric flight practical and accessible. During our Across America tour, we’ve completed nearly 200 passenger flights—and not a single person stepped out without a smile.”

“That emotional connection is translating into real commercial traction. It’s a powerful confirmation that electric aviation isn’t just part of the future—it’s a key pillar of today,” he added.

H55 has been conducting its Across America tour that has so far visited seven U.S. states and has performed almost two hundred flights with flight schools, instructors, GA enthusiasts, and others. The company says it has sold out its first two years of production already in Europe and America.
