AOPA Reports $640,000 Spent On Lobbying Efforts In First Quarter 2011

Represents A Reduction In Lobbying Costs Compared To The Same Period Last Year

AOPA reportedly spent $640,000 on lobbying efforts in the first quarter of 2011. The organization principally lobbied the federal government on issues such as airport infrastructure and the FAA budget.

The Associated Press reports that the number is over $100,000 less than it spent in the same period last year, or the 4th quarter of FY2010.

Among the issues on which AOPA weighed in were allowing more GA movements at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. It also talked to lawmakers on NextGen, and focused some of its lobbying efforts on TSA, DHS, EPA, and the FCC.

The report was filed April 20th with the office of the House Clerk. In the first quarter of 2010, the association spent $780,000 on lobbying efforts, and the previous quarter it had laid out $760,000.
