Duluth Aviation Institute Names New Trustees

Non-Profit Dedicated To Preserving The Region's Aviation History

The Duluth Aviation Institute announces the appointment of John Eagleton, Kate Dougherty, and Don Monaco to its Board of Trustees. "John, Kate, and Don are dynamic and resourceful individuals, and we look forward to the benefits of their insight and experience as trustees on our board," said Sandra Ettestad, Duluth Aviation Institute president.

John Eagleton has been the president and chief executive officer of Northstar Aerospace since 1998. Winner of the 2004 Joel Labovitz Entrepreneur Success Award, John has led Northstar Aerospace to become one of the nation's fastest growing private companies in the United States. He also serves on the Duluth Airport Authority board and is on the Advisory Committee for Lake Superior's College Center for Advanced Aviation.

One of ANN's best friends, Kate Dougherty, is owner of Dougherty Public Relations. Her client list is a diverse group of aviation companies and foundations. Prior to developing her private business, Kate was the public relations director for Cirrus Design for seven years and employed by them for ten years. She is a member of Experimental Aircraft Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and a former member of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, Communication Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Charles A Lindbergh Foundation. [Shameless Editorial Kudos: Yeah Kate!}

Don Monaco retired in 2002 after spending 28 years as an international information technology and business management consultant at Accenture,  including 18 years as a partner and senior executive.  He established Monaco Air Duluth in 2005, a highly regarded full service Fixed Base Operator providing services to airlines, the military, and general aviation customers. He holds Commercial Pilot, Advanced Ground Instructor, and Instrument Ground Instructor certificates. Don also serves on the Lake Superior College Center for Advanced Aviation Steering Committee, the Metropolitan Airports Commission, the Duluth Workforce Council, and the Miller-Dwan Foundation Board of Directors.

The Duluth Aviation Institute is a non-profit corporation dedicated to preserving the region's aviation history, to inspiring the public with this history and knowledge of aviation and aerospace, and to exploring community development within this educational effort.
