Aero-TV: Flight Display Systems -- Bringing The Entertainment To Flight

Some More Details On The Latest In In-Cabin Entertainment Products

On April 8th through April 10th, in Orlando, Florida, hundreds attended the 53rd Annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show; founded in 1957, the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) represents more than 1,300 industry affiliates associated with the general aviation avionics and electronics systems. At AEA’s 2010 ‘New Product Introductions,’ leading manufacturer, Flight Display Systems, announced two new retrofit cabin entertainment products.

FDS's Bob Hala checks in with Aero-TV and provides some background on the many cockpit display systems and associated technologies available through their company. Particularly intriguing is Hala's demonstration of all the many devices that can be interfaced with their cockpit entertainment and information systems... everything from the iPod to bluRay players.

CEO David Gray founded Flight Display Systems in 1999. Two years later, the company premiered its first product, the Flight Display Moving Map, providing a cheaper, more efficient option than anything in the aircraft cabin entertainment market.

After the success of the passenger-accessed moving map, the company expanded its product line to include LCD monitors and audio/video sources including aircraft DVD players, MP3/CD players, and Flight View cameras.

Today, Flight Display Systems has 60 aircraft products with FAA PMA approval.
