FAA Issues STC For 4-blade Propeller On DHC-6

Twin Otter Installation Also Certified By EASA

The FAA has granted STC No. SA03368NY to MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH for the next generation 4-blade scimitar composite propeller MTV-16-1-E-C-F-R(P)/CFR240-55 on the DHC-6 (Twin Otter) produced by Viking Air Ltd.

The Installation is also certified by EASA STC No. 10043964.

The company says the new propeller offers the best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operations. The prop will enhance take-off distance by approx. 5 % (MTOW, SL, ISA conditions); improve climb performance by approx. 5 % (MTOW, SL, ISA conditions), and boost cruise performance by 2 to 3 kts (MTOW, ISA conditions), according to a company news release.

Other benefits include cooler ITTs during engine start up, therefore less engine wear and reduced risk of hot start, significant inside and outside noise reductions, and "Bonded-on Nickel Alloy" providing the best erosion protection of the blades.

The high technology natural composite blades have no life limitation and can even be repaired in case of a FOD.

MT-Propeller is holder of over 130 STCs worldwide and OEM supplier for more than 90% of the European Aircraft Industry as well as 30% of the US Aircraft Industry with more than 15,000 propeller systems flying.
