AOPA’s Last Summit Closes This Week, But Fuller's Commercial Pitches Live On

But.... Will The Annual AOPA Fly-In Make A Comeback?

Mixture closed, Mags off, Chock the gear... this puppy is about to call it quits.

While their best summit years used to be conducted under the guise of the old AOPA Expos, the Aircraft Owner’s and Pilots Association will convene its final 'Summit' in Ft. Worth during the latter part of this week... And yes, despite the fact that these events have, for several years now, been long on hype and short on news, ANN will be there... mostly to see if we can get a better feel for how the organization will fare under its new leadership.

ANN has received several reports that AOPA had not given up on some kind of national get-together, with several sources reporting that AOPA is planning to revamp and reinstitute their HQ-based annual Fly-In... which got the axe under the Fuller Presidency. We rather like this idea... though the peril of planning such outside events is the fact that Mother Nature, especially up in the NorthEast USA, can be pretty capricious.... so we hope they're preparing enough of an indoor facility (like the tent system used years ago... but hopefully with air conditioning) to deal with rain or high temps.

One thing that may not change, though, is the number of commercial pitches that AOPA members complained about so much these past few years... though this time they may be coming from former AOPA Boss, Fuller, directly.

ANN has received multiple copies of a commercial pitch email (and so have quite a few others... with attendant complaints), from Fuller via “the Fuller Company" in which Craig is offering a web store, a number of products and, of course, his services... to those that can afford any of the above.

The more things change, the more they stay the same...
