BAE Systems Receives FAA Parts Manufacturing Approval

Can Now Produce More than 440 Types Of Aftermarket Parts

BAE Systems' commercial aircraft electronics production and service facility in Irving, TX, has received Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) from the Federal Aviation Administration. The PMA designation authorizes the facility to produce and sell more than 440 types of line-replaceable aftermarket products directly to airline customers and aircraft parts distributors.

The Irving facility was operated by Boeing Commercial Airplanes from 1979 to 2004 and its products were developed and certified under a Boeing production certificate. BAE Systems acquired the Irving business in 2004.

The PMA covers a wide range of products specifically for Boeing Aircraft under the following general categories: airframe systems control and monitoring, flight controls, flight deck systems, cabin systems, data distribution, and detection and alerting systems.

"This certification is a major step toward our efforts to expand and improve service to the airline industry," said Scott Ferguson, aftermarket program manager at the Irving facility. "BAE Systems has a long history in servicing commercial aircraft electronics as the world's leading provider of engine control systems, and this certification enables us to expand our aftermarket presence into the many diverse areas served by the Irving commercial electronics business."
