Rolls-Royce Notches Up 500,000 Flight Hours Of Support To U.S. Navy T-45 Fleet

Complete Support for The F405 Engine, Other Components

Rolls-Royce said Monday it has completed 500,000 flight hours of MissionCare support for the F405-RR-401 (Adour) engines that power the U.S. Navy’s T-45 training aircraft. Rolls-Royce has provided comprehensive propulsion services to the Navy’s T-45 Goshawk since 2003, covering operations at three main Naval Air Stations – Kingsville, TX, Meridian, MS, and Pensacola, FL.

Wayne Moni, Chief Operating Officer of Rolls-Royce Defense Services said, “This milestone is a testament to the performance, reliability and dependability that our engine provides to the U.S. Navy’s training program. We are proud of our partnership with the Navy and look forward to continuing to support the Naval Air Training Command as they execute their critical training mission.”

The MissionCare contract includes all engine maintenance, support, parts supply, engineering and logistics support for both the F405 engine and the T-45 aircraft gas turbine starting system. Aftermarket services, of which MissionCare is an important part, account for more than 50 percent of Rolls-Royce underlying revenues.

Rolls-Royce manufactures the F405-RR-401 (Adour) engine in partnership with Turbomeca and has been involved with T-45 program support since its inception through a variety of contracts awarded by both the U.S. Navy and Boeing.
