Some have called it the "Holy Grail" to resuscitating General Aviation ... and after a long, long wait, it's finally here. The FAA has issued a final rule that allows general aviation pilots to fly without holding an FAA medical certificate as long as they meet certain requirements outlined in Congressional legislation. The FAA has released a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) after reports of cracking on skin panels of certain The Boeing Company Model 737-200, -200C, -300, -400, and -500 series airplanes. The SAIB advises owners and operators of the aircraft of a new inspection procedure for cracking in the fuselage skin panels at the chem-mill steps.

November Air Freight Demand Reflects Strong Peak Season

Nearly All Regions Report Increases

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets showing that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), rose 6.8% in November 2016 compared to the year-earlier period. This was a slight slowdown from the 8.4% annual growth recorded in October 2016 - which was a 20-month high - but was still more than 2.5 times the average annual monthly growth rate of 2.6% over the past decade.
