There is widespread support across the industry and government
for the deal reached Thursday to extend funding for the FAA for a
21st time since 2007, but the politics and finger-pointing which
has caused a four-year delay in passing a long-term bill does not
seem to have abated. Under the terms of the agreement, the Senate
has largely accepted the package passed by the House about two
weeks ago, but Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has the
authority to waive provisions which would cut subsidies for some
rural airports.

The Next-Generation B-737 production aircraft ordered by
Ethiopian Airways will include Esterline CMC Electronics’
10.4 inch Class 2 PilotView Electronic Flight Bag (EFB). Boeing has
received its first order from the airline for ten B737NG production
aircraft. CMC’s Class 2 EFB system is now available on
production aircraft and for retrofit on B737NG and BBJ
aircraft.

Revenue From Aircraft Sales Up In The First Half Of 2011
While GAMA's overall shipment numbers were down across the
board, Piper Aircraft Inc. reports that it grew its overall
billings, and total deliveries of its banner Meridian, Matrix and
Mirage single-engine aircraft series, during the first six months
of 2011, ended June 30. The company recorded $57,300,885 in new
aircraft billings over the first six months of the year, up nearly
16 percent from the first six months in 2010.
Family Of Seven Fatally Injured When Airplane When Cessna 421
Went Down After Declaring An Emergency
The NTSB is looking at a possible engine failure in an accident
July 9th which fatally injured all seven people aboard a Cessna
421C. The pilot reported engine problems while in cruise flight at
FL210, and an examination of the engine found damage on the
camshaft gear teeth of the airplane's right engine.
The union representative of the pilots of Republic
Airlines and Frontier Airlines filed a lawsuit Wednesday in U.S.
District Court in Denver against Frontier Airlines Inc., its parent

Pennsylvania Man Became Angry Over Cuts In Pay, Retirement
Benefits
A 53-year-old Pennsylvania man, who said he became angry when US
Airways cut his pay and retirement benefits, was sentenced last
Friday to prison for stealing equipment from the airline.
