There will be no new runway at Ted Stevens Anchorage
International Airport... at least not for a long while. Officials
announced late Thursday the project has been postponed
indefinitely, due in part to public outcry against the plan.
Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik and Airship Ventures announced this
week the successful first flight of the fourth, and latest,
Zeppelin NT airship over Friedrichshafen, Germany.
At approximately 0750 local time on May 22, a fire was detected
in the vicinity of the aft air conditioning and refrigeration space
and auxiliary boiler room aboard the aircraft carrier USS George
Washington (CVN 73).
They both fought hard to win approval from the Department of
Transportation to begin service... but now, United Airlines and US
Airways want to postpone starting new routes to China for at least
a year, due to high fuel prices.

Hawker Beechcraft announced this week a new Hawker Beechcraft

investment will enable HBS to offer customer support and
maintenance in the southwestern United States.

Red Arrows Will Relocate To RAF Waddington By 2011
The World Famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, more commonly
known as the Red Arrows, plan to move from RAF Scampton in
Lincolnshire to nearby RAF Waddington.
At the beginning of the Second World War, the Japanese Navy was
arguably the most powerful navy in the world. Its naval aviation
corps, consisting of 10 aircraft carriers and 1500 topnotch
aviators, was the most highly trained and proficient force of its
kind.
"The airlines oppose the development of a fourth runway
because it is unnecessary and not affordable. It will have a
negative impact on the economic vitality of the airport and the
state of Alaska."
