Sporty’s Acquires PilotWorkshops

Uniting Two Organizations With Common Mission

Sporty’s, a leading provider of aviation educational products and pilot gear and accessories, announced it acquired PilotWorkshops, a familiar and trusted name in pilot proficiency training. The acquisition brings together two organizations with the shared mission of making flying safer, easier, and more enjoyable for pilots everywhere.

Sporty’s has been a leader in aviation education since its founding by engineer and flight instructor Hal Shevers in 1961. The company offers flight training including ground school training courses for all certificates and ratings as well as actual flight training through Sporty’s Academy Flight Training Center out of Clermont County Airport (I69) in Batavia, Ohio.

PilotWorkshops provides online training courses and manuals that offer practical, scenario-based lessons for general aviation pilots through its innovative VFR and IFR Mastery series that help pilots achieve and maintain a high standard of safety and proficiency. Their award-winning instructors and training programs have been used and trusted by more than 200.000 pilots.

Mark Robidoux, founder of PilotWorkshops said, “PilotWorkshops was founded with the goal of helping pilots improve their skills and confidence. By teaming up with Sporty’s, we’re taking that mission to the next level. Together, we’ll expand our reach while maintaining the exceptional quality our customers have come to know and expect.”

John Zimmerman, president and CEO of Sporty’s said in highlighting the two companies’ shared vision:  “Sporty’s has always been about more than just products—we’re here to inspire and educate pilots. Our partnership with PilotWorkshops strengthens our commitment to aviation education. This is about building something bigger than the sum of its parts to benefit the entire aviation community.”
