AOPA's Boyer To Appear On CBS, NBC News Monday Night

Will Respond To DHS/FBI Report's Mention Of GA

AOPA President Phil Boyer will appear on two network newscasts Monday night, responding to the DHS/FBI report outlining the continuing existence of threats posed by general aviation.

Boyer was interviewed by the CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News, according to an AOPA spokesman. During the interviews, Boyer said, in essence, that the level of security at general aviation airports has been significantly enhanced by industry efforts and through joint industry-government efforts.

Boyer's appearance on national television coincides with a meeting between an AOPA staffer and representatives of the TSA on Monday. There, the staffer got a look at the 24-page DHS/FBI report. "The section on general aviation was just one paragraph on one page," the source told ANN. "Public reports zeroed in on that."
