Final Two B-29s Prepare for Return to EAA AirVenture

Doc and Fifi Will Reunite in Oshkosh in July 2025

The last two flying Boeing B-29 Superfortresses, dubbed Doc and Fifi, will be returning to Oshkosh, Wisconsin this summer for EAA Airventure. The bombers will be on display at the Boeing Plaza throughout the airshow.  They will take a formation flight at the July 23 night show and be available for flight experiences.

Everett, Washington-based ZeroAvia announced it reached consensus on the Certification Basis for its 600 kW electric propulsion system (EPS) with the FAA, receiving its G-1 Issue Paper that formally confirmed agreement with its contents. This is a critical step in the certification process where the FAA lays out airworthiness and environmental regulations for a new aircraft design.

Airborne 01.31.25: DCA MidAir, Asteroid Samples, F-35A Accident

A chilly Wednesday night was tragically interrupted as an approaching CRJ 701ER was involved in a collision off the end of DCA Rwy 33 shortly before 2100ET. Social media showed video, apparently pulled from the webcam at the Kennedy Center, of the actual collision. The CRJ, AA5342, N709PS, was on short approach when the accident  occurred, with the last trace showing it terminating its flightpath mid-river. The American Airlines flight was a PSA Airlines operation conducted as American Eagle. Samples returned to Earth from asteroid Bennu by NASA

Pilot Attempted To Adjust The Engine Power Settings, But The Engine Power “Went To Low Power And Was Not Responding To Throttle Control Inputs.”

Analysis: After takeoff the pilot performed a practice RNAV approach, then climbed to 3,500 ft mean sea level en route to another airport. While at altitude the pilot attempted to adjust the engine power settings, but the engine power “went to low power and was not responding to throttle control inputs.” He declared an emergency and after realizing that the flight was unable to reach a nearby airport, he selected a nearby field with a paved road.
