Through extensive testing, NASA has tracked down the root cause of Orion’s heat shield corrosion from the 2022 Artemis I mission. These findings aim to ensure safety for the crew of Artemis II, slated to launch in September 2025. Though Artemis I was an uncrewed mission, engineers assured that the heat shield damage would not have endangered astronauts on board.

Helicopters Inc. recently signed a letter of intent with Eve Air Mobility to purchase up to 50 of its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The agreement also includes service support and Eve’s urban air traffic management (ATM) system, Vector. Eve unveiled its first full-scale eVTOL prototype in July.

Coast Guard Evacs Passenger From Cruise Ship Near Puerto Rico

U.S. Citizen Had Medical Emergency Requiring Higher Care Level

The U.S. Coast Guard conducted an emergency medical evacuation of a 64-year-old woman from the cruise ship Celebrity Apex in the Atlantic Ocean about 140 nm northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on November 3, 2024. The woman, who is a U.S. citizen, required an elevated level of medical care upon reaching shore. Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector San Juan were notified by a communication from the Celebrity Apex about the medical emergency. A medical evacuation to a higher level of care was requested.

Airbus Delivers First of 20 A330neo Jets To Malaysia Airlines

Hand-Off To Lessor Avolon Completed In France

Malaysia Airlines received the first of its 20 factory-new Airbus A330neo aircraft when it was handed over to lessor Avolon in Toulouse, France, then flown from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS) to Kuala Lumpa Airport (KUL), arriving on November 29, 2024. The A330neo arrived at the airport accompanied by a Sukhoi-30MKM aircraft of the Malaysian Air Force, according to bystanders. Avolon will lease a total of 20 A330neos to Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the airline’s parent company, in a deal announced in 2022.
